The 1991-92 season started off slow. The sixth game of the season was against Leetonia when four players, Mark Felton, Jamie Mellott, Frank Thorne and Marc Leffler each scored over 20 points a piece as we raced to our largest margin of victory. The gentlemen tallied 98 points in their victory over the Bears. It was the beginning of the longest winning streak in Southern's basketball history.

The four game winning streak was in jeopardy with 12 seconds on the clock and southern is down 1 point at the Columbiana Clipper's game. The Clippers were shooting free throws when they missed four free throw attempts when senior Jamie Mellott took control the ball the length of the floor, drove the right baseline, and shot a lay-up which slid off the left side of the hoop. Waiting for the board, senior Marc Leffler laid it up with three seconds to go.

Four nights later, when the "The Cardiac Kids" found a way again to pull the win out of defeat. Trailing by four points with 25 seconds to go, the Tribe came back with two free throws by senior Jamie Mellott with 7 seconds to go, the game went into overtime. The result was the first ever sweep of Sebring.

Three days later was Southern's first victory over East Palestine and win number 7 in the streak. The tribe trailed by 15 points in the 1st half. During the 3rd quarter, the table was turned with a led by Mark Felton's 31 points to carry the tribe to a victory.

February 4, the house was packed when the doors had to closed during the 3rd quarter of the JV game when second place, Southern vs first place, United played. The game went into overtime, but when the dust settled, we had win number 8 in the streak and United unblemished mark in the TCL ended.

The night of February 22, tribe would set some school records. Mike Newhouse would shatter the school record for the most 3-Point Goals in a game with 6 goals. The Tribe also set the school record for the most points scored in a single game with 102 points. The 13-9 record was the 2nd best in the school's history.

If anyone was keeping score of the number of overtimes were played in a season, the Tribe would have set a new record with four overtimes. At least ten games were decided by five points or less to make the 1991-92 a very exciting season, Coach John Hippley, and five seniors ended the season in a blaze of glory.

The 2019/20 season was full of many achievements. The team were Sectional Champs and District Runner-up. The team tied the record for the most consecutive wins and beat the record for the most wins in a season. The team placed 3rd in the OVAC 2A tournament. Senior Cam Grodhaus joined the 1000 point club before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19.
